There are few things as wonderful as that first ray of sunshine on your skin after a long dreary week inside, or fridged winter season. The air smells different in the spring. Things tangibly feel new and I'm not sure how to fully describe it. But this is how I feel in my spirit lately. Newness. The breath of an atmosphere of change. Sometimes we just need a fresh atmosphere, and the beautiful thing about faith is you don't have to wait on the calendar, we have been given access and authority to change our atmosphere as Believers.
I have been doing a personal study and ponder journey on the power of "Blessing The Lord". What does that really mean? What does that truly look like in action and words?
What I'm finding is it is ALL over scripture; the phrase "Bless the Lord". In songs of victories after the Red Sea deliverance to dark caves of dispair, we see this phrase and anthem "I will bless the Lord!"
Here is what I've found, nothing shifts the atmosphere of my heart quicker than when I take a pause to bless His name. Meaning I literally say "Lord I bless you! You are good! You are Holy! You are worthy!...." I don't have to talk about my problem or victory, I just have to bless His name and everything changes in that moment.
Binding and Loosing is a powerful tool in intercession, and imperative for assignments. But when it comes to setting the atmosphere for faith.... we Bless. It welcomes heaven and expels darkness.
In joyous times, when we choose to bless the Lord, it prevents us from letting pride and ambition creep into our hearts.
In seasons of mourning, it is the way the Godly greive. We bless the Lord, by giving him the truth of who He is, in times that feel so uncertain.
So this week with sincere hearts, in tears of pain or tears of victory, choose to bless the Lord. Use your voice to speak of His goodness.
I've had this stirring in me a while and then I found this song! Whoa! Wow! Don't you love the Holy Spirit and how He speaks across the body?
Psalm 103
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
An example of how I would take this scripture and use it as a prayer:
"Lord I bless you! With ALL that is within me I bless you. In my suffering and celebration I come to you and I know that blesses You. That I come.
I bless you as the One who forgives.
I bless you as the One who heals.
I bless you as the One who redeems and restores.
I bless you as the One who crowns.
I bless you as the One who satisfies."
This week, pause and bless. And watch fear dissipate, anger flee, pride cripple, and anxiety leave.
When we bless the Lord it SHIFTS the atmosphere. It takes our attention off of ourselves and places it on Jesus Christ the eternal Victor of all. And where the Prince of Peace is, His train of benefits follow.
All Praise To the Worthy One Jesus Christ,
Abby
